Lights flicker for reasons that range from trivial to urgent. The pattern tells you which.
One bulb or one fixture
Usually a loose bulb, a failing LED driver or a dimmer that does not suit the bulbs. A compatible dimmer from our switch and dimmer installation service generally cures it.
One room or one circuit
A loose connection somewhere along the circuit, often at a receptacle where the wires were pushed into the back of the device. This is a job for electrical repair, because loose connections produce heat.
When a big appliance starts
A brief dip as the air conditioner or well pump starts is normal. A strong flicker suggests the circuit or the service is undersized. A dedicated circuit or an electrical panel upgrade may be the answer.
The whole house, at random
This one matters. Lights that brighten and dim through the house, especially in wind, point to a loose service connection or a failing neutral. That can damage appliances and start a fire. Call an emergency electrician.
What we check
Electrical troubleshooting starts at the panel with voltage readings under load, then moves along the circuit until the bad connection is found.

Quick answers
Why do my LED bulbs flicker on a dimmer?
Older dimmers were made for incandescent loads. An LED-rated dimmer normally fixes it.
Could it be the utility's problem?
Yes. If the fault is on their side of the meter, we confirm it and you call the utility.
